CloudValley’s two-pack of 0.023-inch metal webcam covers slides open and shut over laptop, tablet and desktop cameras for privacy. Thin and simple, but check your laptop maker’s guidance first, since covers can interfere with some MacBook screens and sensors. Black finish.
Description
The CloudValley laptop camera cover is an ultra-thin metal slider, 0.023 inches thick, that sticks over a webcam and slides open when you join a call. Two come in the pack, so you can cover a laptop and a tablet or keep a spare.
How people use the CloudValley webcam cover
Use it for privacy on work laptops, family computers, a child’s tablet, or a desktop monitor webcam in a shared room. It gives visual reassurance that the camera is blocked.
Apple has warned that covers on some MacBook models can interfere with the display or ambient light sensor when closing, so check guidance for your model and consider a cover only when the gap is large enough. Clean the area before sticking it on. Make sure the slider does not cover sensors next to the camera.
What sets the CloudValley webcam cover apart
CloudValley describes a metal slide with an adhesive back, compatible with many laptops, MacBooks, iMacs, iPads and older iPhones. Its thinness is the key feature, since thick covers can stop a laptop closing properly.
Check first: can conflict with some MacBook lids
Measure the bezel around your camera and read your laptop maker’s advice. Test closing the lid gently after fitting.
Alternatives to the CloudValley webcam cover
Some laptops have built-in privacy shutters, and webcams like the Logitech Brio 101 include one.
